Angela Fiammetta

Angela Fiammetta is an abstract artist based in Bedford, New York, who creates stitched paintings from pigment, cotton, and thread. She paints lengths of canvas, cuts and tears them into fragments, and arranges those fragments into compositions before sewing and stretching them.

Her practice is rooted in close observation of color and light. She is interested in how colors change in relation to one another, and how a painted surface shifts with the light throughout the day. Cutting apart the canvas allows her to revisit each painted passage, bringing colors and marks into relationships that emerge through the process of arranging.

Stitched seams and subtle variations in the cotton remain visible in the finished work. These details carry the history of its construction and give each painting a tactile presence that unfolds as the viewer moves closer.
