Studio Sessions with LeeAndra Cianci
Q: Describe your art in three words.
A: Colourful, cheeky, current.
Q: Where do you draw inspiration?
A: Honestly, not one specific place! I draw inspiration from everyday life, from my friends, family and fellow creatives, from nature, music, podcasts, movies... dreams... you never know when something might spark an idea or give you some inspiration!
Q: What is your favourite medium and why?
A: These days, I work most often on my iPad (so, digitally). Before the iPad came out with such amazing drawing technology — which completely revolutionized the way that I work — it was just simply pencil on paper for sure.
Q: Who are some of your favourite artists?
A: Oh, wow, this is a hard question! With social media (Instagram, specifically) I feel that access to contemporary artists and illustrators has increased so much since I was in art school. I love finding new artists and illustrators to follow every day! Some Toronto artists I'm really inspired by right now are Alexis Eke, Oksana Berda and Ness Lee.
Q: Do you have a day job? If so, what is it and does it influence your creative process in any way?
A: Freelance illustration is my day job! I work with lots of different clients on a variety of projects, I would say my personal work and projects influence my day job more than the other way around!
