Studio Sessions with Marie Alexander
Q: Describe your art in three words.
A: Feminine, minimal, and healing.
Q: Where do you draw inspiration?
A: I draw inspiration from everywhere, even the minute and mundane. I find nature, feminine shapes, and interior design very inspiring.
Q: What is your favourite medium and why?
A: Acrylics and gouache are my favourites due to their versatility and ease of use.
Q: Who are some of your favourite artists?
A: My list of favourite artists is pretty lengthy but Frida Kahlo, Kara Walker, and Henri Matisse are at the top!
Q: Do you have a day job? If so, what is it and does it influence your creative process in any way?
A: I no longer work a day job. I’m a disabled US Air Force veteran. Most days my chronic physical and mental health issues keep me from functioning at a “normal” level. I paint on the days/times of day that I am feeling well enough to do so.
