Robyn Asquini is a Canadian painter based in Toronto. She completed the Classical Drawing and Painting Program at the Academy of Realist Art and has received multiple awards for her work, including from the Art Renewal Center, BoldBrush, Society of Canadian Artists, Canadian Portrait Society, and the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her work has been exhibited throughout North America and Europe.

This series of floral paintings was created for the exhibition “Unpopular Opinion” and pays homage to three female artists who have influenced Robyn Asquini’s approach to landscapes and florals: Rachel Ruysch, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Ruth Yamada. Each pushed against social barriers in their time, and their work is now celebrated for its sensitivity and strength. Through this series, Asquini revisits historical approaches to floral painting and reinterprets them through a contemporary lens, considering what the genre can express today.
