Nicole Anastas / Aura
Nicole Anastas is a Los Angeles–based visual artist whose work blends textiles, design, and painting. Beginning with hand-sewn canvases stitched from scratch, she builds dimensional surfaces with embroidery and handmade details before applying bold, monochromatic acrylic paint. The result is modern, organic, and vibrant works that transform structure and texture into a visual language uniquely her own. Her practice reflects years of experimentation across textiles, fashion, and fine art, culminating in a distinct and evolving body of work.
With this new collection, Nicole ventures into a playful dialogue with fabric and form, stitching shapes that feel both modern and alive. In the act of sewing, she uncovered new rhythms — subtle variations that shifted her canvases into unexpected territories, yet always remained tethered to the delicate handwork that defines her practice.
Color dances across her surfaces with both intention and lightness, enlivening the stitched structures without overpowering them. Each piece unfolds from a spirit of discovery, where forms overlap and drift, balancing precision with spontaneity in an ever-evolving conversation. Beyond their visual poetry, Nicole’s works are meant to carry an energy, sending ripples of good karma and resonance that extend beyond the canvas, reaching outward to embrace the viewer.
