Tannis Marshall / Somewhere To Go Study I
Tannis Marshall is an abstract artist and mother of three young children.
Inspired by the slow process and ritual she developed as an art director, her artistic practice aims to evoke a soothing sense of calm, through pieces that express balance and meaning, with a modern perspective that pervades beauty into everyday.
“Somewhere to Go” began from quiet moments in nature — the shifting light across a leaf, the layered stories within ancient stone, and the stillness between branches. Drawn to the subtle intersections where colors shift, forms overlap, and time reveals itself through texture, Tannis transforms these fleeting impressions into layered abstractions of shape, tone, and calm that mirror the complexity and serenity of the natural world.
Beyond nature, the collection reflects an inner landscape as a creative journey and an enduring search for connection, belonging, and acceptance. Each painting becomes both reflection and refuge, a quiet place to simply exist. The titles echo the emotions that surface in stillness, tracing rather than depicting nature. “Somewhere to Go” speaks to movement and growth, finding meaning in the in-between, and the gentle pull toward what lies ahead.
