Pia Metni is a Montreal-based contemporary artist.

Her journey began amidst the tumult of the Lebanese civil war and the loss of her father, prompting her mother and her to return to Montreal at a young age.

During her formative years, Pia immersed herself in the worlds of television and theatre, shaping her artistic instincts. Concurrently, she pursued a career in territorial management within orthopaedics while also studying theatre at the Lee Strasberg Institute in NYC & LA.

Driven by philosophical inquiry and drawing from diverse contemplative traditions, Metni's art delves deep into existential themes. Each gesture and line is infused with intentionality, revealing the underlying harmony within apparent dualities. Through disciplined engagement with form, line, and negative space, she invites introspection on identity, societal belonging, polarity, and the pursuit of meaning. Her body of work speaks to life's subtleties, urging viewers to confront existence with tranquility and depth.

Imagery includes other photos of Pia Metni's artworks to give an idea of dimension, raw edge details, and framing style.

As we tread along the path of conformity, contorting, adapting, and moulding our identities to fit into the prescribed societal norms, we encounter a paradoxical truth –the more we strive to fit in, the more we risk losing sight of our authentic selves.

Suffocated beneath the weight of societal expectations, we become actors on a stage, donning masks to conceal our vulnerabilities, suppressing our true passions and aspirations.

Within each of us lies a unique constellation of experiences, perspectives, and aspirations waiting to be unearthed toward the liberation to forge our path amidst the cacophony of societal norms. In all of the embossed works, a purposeful debossed or un-embossed shape visually anchors the call to embrace the weight of our voices, allowing us to find liberation from conformity's confines, charting our course amidst expectations. For it is in embracing our uniqueness that we find a true sense of
freedom.

Furthermore, embossed works possess a unique allure as their essence is revealed through the interplay of shadow and light, unveiling their beauty when illuminated by light. A delicate reminder that our shadows unveil profound wisdom.
