Anji Woodley / Teacups and Tafel: A Prologue VIII
Anji Woodley is an emerging mixed-media contemporary artist from South Africa, currently based in Toronto, Canada. Her work is a reflection of her deep connection with nature and her roots, which she expresses through the use of natural materials and textures.
A distinctive aspect of this series is the use of handmade black ink, crafted from foraged willow bark. This process involves a meticulous technique of burning, grinding, and mixing the bark into a rich, inky consistency, allowing the natural elements of the material to resonate throughout the work. Each piece reflects a fusion of nature and artistry, creating an intimate dialogue between the viewer and the layers of texture, form, and movement.
