Amelia Valentine

Amelia Valentine is a Toronto-based painter living and working in the city’s west end. Her practice centers around the dialogue between control and spontaneity, using ink, acrylic, and raw canvas to explore what happens when intention loosens its grip. Her compositions are shaped as much by deliberate mark-making as they are by the unexpected — spills, splatters, bleeds, and other so-called accidents that challenge traditional ideas of mastery and authorship.

Her paintings embrace this tension, resulting in work that feels raw, atmospheric, and intuitively composed. There’s a quiet confidence in letting go — an openness to letting materials speak for themselves, while still guiding the process with a discerning hand.

Amelia has exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibitions, and has curated projects that highlight the multiplicity of contemporary painting practices. Her work is held in personal and corporate collections across Canada and internationally.
