Eloise is a contemporary restaurant on The Esplanade in Toronto, nestled between the historic Distillery District and the city’s Financial District. With a refined yet approachable atmosphere, the space is designed with a modern material palette that balances warmth and sophistication. Tacit was brought on as art consultants to liaise a series of commissions by a single artist, creating a cohesive body of work tailored to the interiors. The goal was to humanize the space, introduce warmth, and ensure the artwork complemented the textures and finishes of the restaurant’s design.

The Result —

Frames with Flare

Each artwork was finished with a custom frame featuring spherical appliqués, adding dimension and a subtle design detail that ties into the restaurant’s bespoke interiors. The frames act as both boundary and extension, giving the works a tactile presence on the walls. This thoughtful finishing touch elevates the commissions into integral design features rather than standalone pieces.

Timeless Tactility

Geometric shapes, retro-inspired color blocking, and mid-century tonal palettes infuse the space with energy and nostalgia. The addition of hand-applied gold leaf enriches the works with subtle luxury, catching the glow of the dedicated art lights above. Together, these elements create a layered visual experience that feels timeless yet contemporary.

Palpable Portraiture

Commissioned from artist Victoria Sequeira, the series takes a figurative and portraiture-driven approach to bring an entirely custom element to the space. Victoria's distinctive style is instantly notable, serving as a connection point with guests. This human-centered lens aligns seamlessly with the restaurant’s vision of creating a soulful atmosphere.
