Emma Chlumecky is a Canadian oil painter and fibre artist based in Windsor, Ontario. She received her Bachelor's of Fine Art from the University of Windsor, where she was awarded the Dennis. M. Knight award of excellence in Visual Arts.
Through elements of magical realism, Emma's work serves as a preservation of personal moments and memories. Blending expressionist tendencies and subjectivity, Emma creates captivating narratives, inviting reflection on the beauty found in life's mundane moments. Combining reality and fantasy, Emma's practice is a heartfelt attempt to invoke reflections on the innate ability to see beauty in the absurd and particularly, the precarity of time and place.
"October 1st, 2025, my 23rd birthday, marked my first day working as a designer at a local flower shop; a job that has deeply shaped the way I see flowers, creativity, and the beauty of the natural world. For this collection, I decided to paint three floral arrangements from life using flowers I gathered from the shop. These paintings are a reflection of a job I have grown to love, the creativity it has given me, and the friends I’ve gained along the way; They also commemorate the beauty of something so simply obvious." — Emma Chlumecky
