Jennifer Laflamme / Lily Pad
Jennifer Laflamme is a Toronto-based artist specializing in textiles, natural dyeing, and painting. She has studied Fine Arts in Paris, Fashion Design in Toronto, and natural dyeing while living in Japan. Holding a BFA in Fashion Design from TMU, Laflamme draws on her Japanese-Korean heritage to explore traditional dyeing and pigment painting techniques. Her practice involves creating intricate paintings and sculptures that invite viewers into dreamlike worlds, rich in texture and detail, while examining the intersections of fabric, memory, and form. She uses textiles as a medium to connect bodily and cultural memories, intertwining the past with the present.
Laflamme also runs Mifi Mifi, a textile studio in Toronto, where she creates wearable sculptures using traditional techniques imbued with her connection to the natural world. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally.
