Laurie Boudreault / white flag
Laurie Boudreault’s work centres on minimal, expression-led abstract figuration. Through instinctive mark-making, layered surfaces, and a trust in imperfection, she explores the complexity and contradictions of human emotion.
Laurie’s Polarities Series explores the opposing emotions and truths that can coexist within us; joy and grief, discouragement and hope, love and anger. It is within these tensions that the complexity of us, as beings, exists.
“Much of this body of work grew from motherhood—a constant practice of holding seemingly opposing realities and navigating the meta-emotions that often accompany them. It is a role shaped by profound love and exhaustion, presence and guilt, gratitude and longing, confidence and doubt.
Through parenthood, I began exploring these emotional dualities while recognizing that they extend far beyond it. Polarities is an invitation to embrace contradiction—to accept that seemingly opposing feelings can both be true, and that there is freedom in holding them together.” — Laurie Boudreault
