Rachel Joanis / Sunday Morning

$50

Toronto-based artist Rachel Joanis takes inspiration from fashion images to create her illustrations. As a female artist, she understands the importance of representation, and the significance of seeing yourself reflected in art and media. The majority of her work focuses around women, and promoting different ethnicities and body types, to help further inclusivity and promote equal representation.

Ah, Sunday mornings. Moving at a slow pace, picking up comfort food, easing into the afternoon with a glass of orange wine. This piece illustrates a Sunday morning scene, yet with a level of vibrance that is anti-Sunday scaries (and we need that). Bright colours, contrasting shades, and bold colour blocks make for a nuanced piece of work.
