Sarah Short / Mrs. Davis

$50

Sarah Z. Short is a multidisciplinary artist based in Richmond, Rhode Island. Residing in the woods informs her practice — this quiet place is where she creates her collages from vintage materials. Old papers are Sarah’s favourite, like the ragged edges of a worn book cover and the marks that readers leave on the pages over time. The beauty in these vintage materials comes from the history that we’re unaware of, but Sarah’s work gives them new life.

This piece is one part art deco, two parts mid-century modern, and all parts remarkable. Something about the polka dots in a neutral-ish colour way feels mature, yet lively. This is one of those pieces you'll have in your collection forever, consistently taking on new life as it transports from room to room or home to home.
