Alison Kruse / Balance
Alison Kruse / Balance
One of the pieces featured in our capsule collection with the AGO - Art Gallery of Ontario.
Alison Kruse is a Toronto-based artist who attended Queen’s University Fine Art Program. She works in photo collage illustrations and oil painting. Her work is inspired by the distinct characteristics that make a place unique and how they evoke emotion. In addition to her creative practice, Alison studied Communication Design at Emily Carr and the British Columbia School of Technology. She has attended Gulkistaad residency in Iceland, Obras Foundation in the Netherlands, and Ateliers Fourwinds in France.
It seems like we're constantly in pursuit of this ambiguous idea of balance. A balance between work and life, between introversion and extroversion, between health and indulgence. It's at arms length, but never fully out of reach, and this piece makes it feel closer to us — even just for a second.
